چکیده
chrome P-450 concentration shows the disappearance to be loss of the active conformation of the enzyme rather than inhibition of an enzyme assay, as is employed with most other enzymes. No cytochrome P-450 could be detected by our methods in yeast strains N.C.Y.C. 73,74,366,379,533,686,692 and 716. A respiratory-deficient mutant of yeast (N.C.Y.C. 240) was shown to produce cytochrome P-450 even in 0. 1%-glucosecontaining media, where none is normally produced. The mutant tested produced 2.3nmol of cytochrome P-45Olg wet wt. of yeast in 0.1% glucose (and 5.5nmol in 20% glucose). The mutant does not produce cytochrome a + a , even in 0.1%glucose media. The cyclic AMP concentrations here have yet to be investigated.

Effect of experimental hyperthyroidism on skeletal-muscle proteolysis.
It is not clear whether the muscle wasting commonly observed in hyperthyroidism is due to alteration in the rate of protein synthesis or degradation. The effect of experimental hyperthyroidism on skeletal-muscle proteolysis in the rat was studied by measuring alanine and tyrosine release from isolated skeletal muscles in vitro and 3-methyl-histidine excretion in vivo. Alanine release from the i...
متن کاملSkeletal muscle protein and amino acid metabolism in hereditary mouse muscular dystrophy. Accelerated protein turnover and increased alanine and glutamine formation and release.
Interactins between skeletal muscle protein and amino acid metabolism were investigated using C57BL and 129ReJ mice with hereditary muscular dystrophy. On incubation, hind limb muscle preparations from dystrophic mice released large quantities of amino acids, particularly alanine and glutamine which were increased 70% and 40% compared to muscles from carrier or control mice. The increased alani...
متن کاملThe effect of ketone bodies on alanine and glutamine metabolism in isolated skeletal muscle from the fasted chick.
The effects of ketone bodies on the metabolism of alanine and glutamine were studied in isolated extensor digitorum communis (EDC) muscles from 24 h-fasted chicks. (1) Acetoacetate and DL-beta-hydroxybutyrate (4 mM) markedly inhibit branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) transamination and alanine formation. (2) Ketone bodies (1 and 4 mM) increase the intracellular concentration and release of glutam...
متن کاملAlanine and glutamine synthesis and release from skeletal muscle. IV. beta-Adrenergic inhibition of amino acid release.
Alanine and glutamine formation and release were studied using the intact epitrochlaris preparation of rat skeletal muscle. Epinephrine reduced the release of alanine and glutamine in a concentration-dependent manner. Measurable inhibition was observed at 10(-9) M epinephrine, and maximal inhibition was obtained at 10(-5) M. Norepinephrine also reduced alanine and glutamine formation and releas...
متن کاملSkeletal muscle protein and amino acid metabolism in experimental chronic uremia in the rat: accelerated alanine and glutamine formation and release.
The kinetics and factors regulating alanine and glutamine formation and release were investigated in skeletal muscle preparations from control and experimentally uremic rats. These preparations maintained phosphocreatine and ATP levels in vitro which closely approximated levels found in vivo. Alanine and glutamine release from uremic muscle were increased 45.8 and 36.0%, respectively, but tissu...
